The Kettle Grill

The old trusty kettle grill. Prized for its simplicity, portability and affordability, this is the surefire grill to get the job done. The kettle grill was developed in 1952 by George Stephen, Sr., when he was confounded by the lack of even heating in traditional barbecues. Stephen, who worked at the Weber sheet metal shop in Chicago, took a hollow metal sphere that was to be used as a buoy in Lake Michigan and cut it in half. He then added charcoal and a grill, creating the the cooker that would put the Weber company on the map.

Now, the backyard BBQs are ubiquitous throughout suburbs across America, and much of the world.
