On Monday, a golf course employee at San Juan Hills Golf Club in San Juan Capistrano, California was stunned to see a two-foot-long leopard shark laying on the 12th hole's tee box.
Without a drop of water in sight, the fish's appearance was nothing short of a shock, reports the Capistrano Dispatch. Quick-thinking golf cart cart attendant Bryan Stizer put the fish in a bucket of salt water then clocked out to give the shark a personal escort back to the ocean. "When I dropped him into the water, he just lied there for a few seconds, but then he did a twist and shot off into the water," Stitzer said.
It's thought a predatory bird accidentally dropped the shark en route to its nest--and the bird's dinner plate.
