1964 - The Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show after a charity performance that closed out their U.S. tour.
1966 - George Harrison visited India and the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for the first time.
1970 A Miami court found Jim Morrison guilty of indecent exposure and profanity, stemming from an earlier Doors concert. However, Morrison was acquitted on charges of "lewd and lascivious" behavior.
1971 - Peter Frampton quit Humble Pie in order to pursue a solo career.
1972 - Police discovered cannabis growing on Paul and Linda McCartneys farm.
1973 - Jim Croce was killed in a plane crash while en route to a concert in Sherman, Texas. Maury Muehleisen and four others were also killed.
1973 - The Roxy Theater opened in Los Angeles, with Elton John, Carole King and Jackson Browne serving as opening acts.
1975 - Bruce Springsteen released the single "Born to Run."
