1968 - Eric Burdon split from The Animals.

1978 - Faces drummer Kenney Jones replaced Keith Moon in The Who. Moon had died a couple of months earlier.

1981 - A London rock 'n' roll auction pulled in $2,000 for a cover letter Buddy Holly sent to Decca Records, while John and Cynthia Lennon’s marriage certificate was auctioned off for $850. Meanwhile, an autographed program from the world premiere of The Beatles film Help! pulled in $2,100.

1984 - CBS Records announced the upcoming release of She's the Boss, Mick Jagger’s first solo album.

1991 - Gregg Allman played a drug kingpin in the movie Rush, in his acting debut.
