1987 - Successful folk rocker Paul Simon joined the unsuccessful presidential candidate of the same name to host Saturday Night Live.

2001 - Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland pled guilty to a domestic battery after a domestic dispute with his wife at a Hard Rock Hotel a month earlier. The judge allowed a plea bargain dismissing the case provided that Weiland stay out of trouble for six months and attend 26 counseling sessions.
