1961 - Britain's EMI Records initially rejected The Beatles, though they would later come to their senses and sign the Fab Four.
1964 - Sam Cooke's funeral was held in Chicago.
1971 - Jerry Lee Lewis divorced his cousin Myra Brown. The couple married when she was just 13 years old.
1975 - Rod Stewart made the announcement that he was leaving Faces to pursue a solo career.
1981 - An estimated 35 million people watched a Rod Stewart concert that was broadcast via satellite in 23 countries.
1983 - Keith Richards married model Patti Hansen.
2001 - Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee won a court battle with his ex-wife Pamela Anderson. The model and Baywatch actress had filed suit to gain full custody of their two children. However, the judge denied a request made by Anderson's lawyers to require monitoring of Lee's visits.
