1965 - Manfred Mann became the first western band to play a show behind the Iron Curtain.
1970 Creams Jack Bruce and John McLaughlin of Miles Davis' group, along with Larry Young and Tony Williams, joined forces to form the group Lifetime.
1969 - The Beatles Abbey Road was released in the U.S.
1980 At a concert in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Bruce Springsteen forgot some of the lyrics to "Born to Run".
1981 - The Kinks played their first show at New York Citys Madison Square Garden.
1988 - Imagine, a documentary about John Lennon, premiered in Hollywood, California.
1989 - David Bowies box set Sound + Vison was released.
1994 - Eric Clapton set out on his "Nothing But The Blues" tour.
1996 - Van Halen fired David Lee Roth for the second time after recording a handful of songs for the groups greatest hits album.
2000 - The New York State Board of Parole denied Mark David Chapman, who received a life sentence for the murder of John Lennon on December 8, 1980. He was denied again in September 2010 after it was discovered that he targeted other celebrities at the time.
