1964 - The Beach Boys performed "I Get Around" during their first performance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

1972 - Rory Storme of the Hurricanes committed suicide in an apparent suicide pact with his mother. Over a decade earlier, Ringo Starr left the Hurricanes to join the Beatles.

1979 - Elton John collapsed onstage at the Universal Amphitheatre while performing "Better Off Dead". Merely suffering from exhaustion brought on by the flu, John would return ten minutes later to complete the set.

1979 - Blondie released their album Eat To The Beat.

1979 - The Police released their sophomore effort Regatta de Blanc.

1986 - Metallica bassist Cliff Burton was killed at the age of 24 when the group’s tour bus skidded off the road and crashed in Sweden.

2002 - Vince Neil pled guilty to misdemeanor battery charges after attacking a record producer in West Hollywood on April of that year.

2004 - Record producer Phil Spector was charged with the murder of Lana Clarkson at his mansion in 2003.
